All You Need to Know About the Enfield's Latest Launches

The much awaited Royal Enfield twins have finally launched in Indian market. The Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT 650 are priced at Rs. 2.50 lakh and Rs. 2.65 lakhs respectively.


The Royal Enfield 650CC twins were initially unveiled in 2017 at the International Motorcycle and Accessories Exhibition (EICMA) in Milan, Italy. The Continental GT 650 measures 2,122 mm long, 1,024 mm in wide 744 mm high. It also has a good wheelbase of 1,398 mm. The bike weighs 198 kg and has a 12.5-litre fuel tank. Featuring the aesthetic cafe racer design, The Continental GT 650 comes with an optional single seat, rear set footrests and clip-on handlebars.


Looking at the measurements Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650, it measures 2,122 mm in length, 1,165 mm wide and 789 mm in height. The Interceptor has a wheelbase of 1,400 mm. The seat of this bike is set a bit higher at 804 mm as compared to Continental at 793mm. Weight of the Royal Enfield Interceptor is 202 kg. Equipped with 13.7-litre fuel tank, The Interceptor is well designed for street.


Both the new Royal Enfield bikes models come with circular headlamps and twin-pod instrument clusters. Both bikes are also equipped with a 41 mm telescopic suspension in front and and twin coil-over shocks at the rear.


The Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650 are powered by the a 648cc, air -cooled, fuel-injected, parallel twin cylinder engine which produces 47 BHP @ 7,250 rpm and peak torque of 52 Nm @ 5,250 rpm. As quoted by personals at Royal Enfield, around 80% of the torque of these bikes is available from 2,500 rpm. The powerful engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission via a slipper clutch. Both new Royal Enfield bikes get a single 320 mm front disc brake and a 240 mm disc brake at the rear combined with dual-channel ABS.


The new Royal Enfield bikes come with a 3-year long standard warranty and nationwide roadside assistance. The deliveries of to commence from end of November. Royal Enfield has introduced online booking facility with the launch of 650 twins. Customers can book their bikes on Royal Enfield’s official website and get delivery across any of the authorised dealership in India. Booking has started across India from the month of November.


Both the bikes have three major colour schemes namely Standard, Custom and Chrome. Standard for Royal Enfield Interceptor include Mark Three, Orange Crush and Silver Spectre while Continental GT’s options are Black Magic and Ventura Blue. Interceptor’s custom range has Baker Express and Ravishing Red while under Continental GT’s custom RE offers Dr. Mayhem and Ice Queen. The chrome option in both the bikes have one option. Interceptor INT 650 has Glitter and Dust whereas Continental GT 650 offers Mister Clean.
