Confused about what to choose? - Tata Hornbill/ H2X, New Nissan Micra, Datsun Cross 2019
The crossover SUV segment in India has been hosting plenty of car launches in 2019. To help you find the right SUV, we compare new cars throughout this article based on various aspects:
Exterior
Datsun Cross features projector headlamps with LED DRLs. You can’t help but notice the black roof tray with sleek rails. The rear spoiler and fancy C-shaped tail lamps are also expected to sport in the new Datsun Cross.
Based on the H2X concept, Tata Hornbill features boxy styling. It sports a split headlamp upfront, similar to its elder cousin Harrier. The front bumper has a tri-arrow pattern that may become the main lamps in the production model, the same as we saw with the Harrier.
While Tata Hornbill has a more rugged look, Nissan Micra features elegance that stands out among the crowd. The signature V-shaped grille and the boomerang-shaped headlamps are continued in this new-gen Micra as well.
Interior
Datsun Cross has all the standard elements such as AC and AUX-IN interface. However, when we compare the latest cars, the rear seats of Datsun Cross look a bit congested for three people.
As for the Tata Hornbill, you’ll see the glimpse of Harrier in the dashboard design. However, the car comes packed with modern features such as a touch-screen infotainment system and climate control. Despite the compact footprint, Tata Hornbill has cleverly designed the cabin for more space.
The new-gen Nissan Micra features a dual-color theme in the cabin, which adds to the premium look of the car. Here, if we compare cars, Micra too sports additional space; however not just in the front but the rear cabin as well.
The cabin features a clean and practical design with the NissanConnect infotainment system being the main highlight.
Performance
Datsun Cross is expected to be offered with 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol variant as standard. However, we can’t deny the possibility that Datsun Cross may be the first Datsun model to offer diesel variant.
Tata Hornbill is available with two options - 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.05-liter diesel variant. As the petrol variant comes already combined with an AMT, we’re expecting an AMT option in the upcoming SUV as well.
Nissan Micra is offered with a 1.2-liter petrol engine that comes combined with a CVT auto only. However, the diesel variant of new-gen Micra comes combined with a 5-speed manual. One thing we want to highlight here is the CVT auto feature, which makes Nissan Micra really stand out as an advanced X-Tronic auto CVT is superior to the crude AMT.
Final thoughts
All three models are packed with modern features and stylish design elements. However, which one should you drive home totally depends on your budget and the wish list you have for your dream SUV.
